First time seeing Evans as he didn't get into much game action last year as he was working hard on mechanics. Only been on mound 2-3 times in 2017 and that live arm we expected now was sitting 87-89 mph with his fastball. Body has changed as its muscular at 6-foot-1, 215-pounds. Solid frame, big strong legs, looks as if Evans has lived in the weight room. Arm was still 3/4, ball jumped out of hand, multiple 88 and 89 mph on the gun with arm side run. Changeup had diving action and was down in bullpen. The arm quickness with his physical strength makes Evans someone coaches will want to jump on quick with the potential upside he has.
6/24/15
Well proportioned frame with current strength at 6-foot, 180-pounds. Wide shoulders with strong lower half. Evans has a loose and quick arm that has a chance to eventually throw hard as he continues to develop and mature. Works from a 3/4 arm slot, slow tempo delivery that doesn't always repeat itself. Fastball had life as he sat 83-84 mph in his first inning of work. When everything was on time, Evans was able to get out-front with some action on his ball. Produced a lot of swings and misses. Flashed a late breaking ball with some bite and 11/5 shape at 66-68 mph. Change was 76-77 mph while he kept it down in the zone with fade. Mechanics need some work but he has a chance to be special with the arm. Hard work, consistent reps and a repeatable delivery should be the focus for Evans.
