2.19.18 Raspanti is an uncommitted senior with catch and throw abilities and good feel for the barrel in the box. Listed at 5-foot-10 and 200-pounds, the left-handed bat is the best tool in Raspanti’s tool box. No wasted movement, the hands are loose and relaxed and start back as he incorporates a small stride to launch position. Gets hips and hands through the zone well with a high finish, found the barrel with some loud contact and drove balls to his pull side, best exit velocity was 89 mph. Defensively, moved well behind the plate, had best pop time of 1.88 and velocity out the crouch was 73 mph. The feet work well with momentum to the bag and does a good job of getting rid of the ball, accuracy was on the bag and Raspanti has the chance to be an offensive catcher who should get the opportunity to work with a staff at the right college program.
Raspanti handled a lot of the duties behind the plate for Team Ontario 18u during the 2017 season and he looks to carry the load again this year as the senior catcher on the team. The left-handed hitting catcher shows an easy swing with feel at the plate, he stays balanced and between his legs with good extension through the ball and is not afraid to go the other way. There is strength there with some pop as well with an exit velocity of 89 mph. Behind the plate, Raspanti shows carry on his throws and works with a short arm from the transfer, getting rid of the ball rather quickly. As he gets stronger, footwork should become quicker and Raspanti has also shown he can play an adequate first base as well.
