2029 1B Marco Cunha (Vaughan Vikings) was one of the youngest players at the event and the left-handed hitter was still able to generate the third highest exit velocity (96.4mph) and fifth best distance (323ft) for a Hard Hit% of 31%. Cunha recently just turned 14-years-old and there’s advanced strength for his age, standing at 5-foot-10, 170-pounds. The Vaughan Vikings first baseman put together an average exit velocity of 80.8mph, average bat speed of 58.1mph (61.3mph max) and average hand speed 15.4mph (17.1mph max). Barely 14-years-old, Cunha has plenty of growth and development on the way but there’s a solid foundation to work with going forward.
Cunha was the other 2029 to attend and immediately caught our attention with a smooth left-handed swing. It’s an open setup with high-hands before a small leg-kick lines him up and sets him loose with short, direct hands. Cunha came in with an approach and consistently made line-drive contact to the middle portion of the cage. Cunha generated a peak exit velocity of 83.1mph and Sweet Spot % of 65. Great first showing from the Vaughan Vikings two-way.
