The 6-foot, 2019 grad has a projectable frame and room to add more size, and has added an extra tick to his fastball - now up to 84 mph. Throws from a controlled and smooth ¾ delivery with clean arm action. Fastball had some running action and sat down in the zone. Worked in a much-improved cutter at 74-78 mph which showed good bite down in the zone. Also mixes in a slower curveball at 68-72 mph which shows 11/5 shape and gets good depth whenever Blackborow can get on top of the pitch. Blackborow shows a lot of promise on the mound and throws three pitches for strikes with clean and fluid actions. The 2019 righty will be one to watch moving forward.
Blackborow, now 6-foot, 175-pound 2019 grad with room for added strength gains in the future. Blackborow has some strength and athleticism to his delivery, arm works in the back and gets outfront from 3/4 slot with a fastball that was 82-83 with run for strikes. Curveball had 11/5 shape at 67-69 and was also able to show feel for the strike zone with the pitch. Blackborow also used a cutter at 74 that is still a work in progress but did show late action when he was down in the zone and to the glove side. One to watch as the delivery seems to be ironed out and there is only room to trend upwards with his actions.
2019 with strong frame and muscular build at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds. Fastball worked in the low 80's while topping out at 81 mph from clean 3/4 arm slot. Showed arm speed and rhythm to delivery, fastball for strikes but worked up in zone at times. Curveball was 68-72 mph with 11/5 shape and would at times get some late biting action. inconsistent with feel in strike zone but showed ability to spin baseball. Changeup was 75-77 mph while he maintained arm speed, more of a straight changeup that when he would miss it would be to arm side. Overall young arm with strength and room to polish himself on the mound. Should be able to continue to raise his numbers and fine tune his stuff on the mound.
