A 5-foot-10, 165-pound outfielder with a thick frame, good athleticism and twitchy actions. Runs a 6.94-second 60 with quick and athletic strides with room to shave off a few ticks. Some minor tweaks in the swing are necessary but McEachern has quick hands through the zone with a line-drive approach. Best hacks came when Matthew drove his bat through the zone and finished with extension. In the outfield, approaches the baseball aggressively, some long arm action in the back, but ball comes out with good carry and throws are online. Overall an athletic outfielder who has some good tools and will get better with minor adjustments at the plate.
2019 grad at 5-foot-10, 165-pounds and room to carry more size. Ran a 6.94 sixty with some effort involved. Aggressive approach at the plate from left side, at best when he stayed short and tried to not get to big, takes his hacks and does not get cheated, will have some happy feet near finish at times losing some balance, exit velocity of 86 mph with more to come with some minor adjustments. Attacked everything defensively from the outfield. Works from near high-3/4 slot. Feet and approach are there, works well through the ball and gets rid of it in a hurry. High intensity player with speed in the outfield, a 2019 with lots of time on his side.
McEachern, a 2018 grad listed at 5-foot-10, 160-pounds, moves well with athletic actions and best 60 time is 7.03 for the outfielder. Defensively, attacks and approaches ball with confidence, big crow hop before release, arm comes from 3/4 slot and when he is in control of body and on top, you see the difference in carry on throws, top velocity from the outfield as 81 mph. At the plate, starts open in relaxed, small crouch while hands use up and down hitch as load to launch position. At times, bat path will work down towards to ball which could work for McEachern as he can utilize his speed. Does show some quickness in hands, being able to stay in the hitting zone longer will help him barrel up more baseballs. Some minor tweaks to go along with athletic actions and speed could help make the jump McEachern is capable of making in his development.
