Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-5, 220-pounds.
Extension: 5.4 - 6.2.
Fastball: 86-88mph, 2253rpm (T2440), 6.2” IVB, 17.6” HB.
Slider: 74-76mph, 2250rpm (T2376), -2.5” IVB, -4.9” HB, 29% Strike%.
Changeup: 77-79mph, 1846rpm, -3.2” IVB, 13.1” HB, 83% Strike%.
The big 6-foot-4, 210-pound right-handed pitcher was coming off an injury heading into the Future Games, but still showed well on the mound working two strong innings of relief in Game 3. Hides the ball well with a shorter arm action and a fastball that sat 85-87 and a SL that showed sweep at times. It will be interesting to see what kind of attention Neufeld will attract as his stuff has continued to get better over the past couple years that we’ve had eyes on him.
2026 RHP/3B Matthew Neufeld was another standout at Thursday’s event in Windsor. Physically advanced for his age with size and strength on the mound, standing at 6-foot-4, 205-pounds. The fastball sat 85-86 T87 with 2500+ rpm, paired with three off-speed pitches. Neufeld has a simple delivery that works downhill from an over-the-top slot and projects well on the mound with present stuff and more to come. Live arm across the infield working up to 88mph which was tops at the event. Also put together a good round of BP with the ability to drive the ball to pullside, but it’s his work his mound that will attract the attention of college coaches.
2026 RHP Matthew Neufeld was one of the top underclass arms this weekend and is a high-upside arm who just recently turned 15-years-old. Sheer size for his age at 6-foot-3, 205-pounds and a live arm with a fastball that sat 84-86 T87 with 2300+ average spin. More of a cutter look on the slider right now at 68-72mph and he flashed just one changeup at 72mph (1595rpm) and the pitch has potential as he continues to develop. One of the better true 2026 arms our staff has seen to-date with a good combination of size, projection and above average fastball. An underclass arm to keep tabs on this summer.
