A JUCO D1 1st Team All American who posted a 0.94 ERA in 47.2 IP with 79 strikeouts and only four walks, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound left-hander also threw a total of five complete games in nine starts. He will sit 88-92 with a plus slider and a plus changeup for a top three pitch mix. He also has good deception as he hides the ball incredibly well, allowing his fastball to play up. Schaeffer is expected to pitch in the weekend rotation for the Tar Heels this spring.
6-foot-1, 180-pound LHP sat 82-84 from a 3/4 arm slot with some hip coil to his delivery. Slider at 75-77 is an above average out pitch at the next level. Repeatedly commanded pitch to back knee of right-handed hitters for swings and misses.
