2028 IF Christopher Knelly (Hazleton Area) Knelly features a compact, athletic 5-foot-6.5, 171.5 lbs frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter features an impressive power profile, hammering baseballs with a peak exit velocity of 100 mph and a max distance of 334 feet with a 50% ground-ball rate. Defensively, he worked on the infield, showcasing steady actions and registering a strong 83 mph velocity across the diamond. He also ran a quick 7.1-second 60-yard dash. Grip Strength: 163.1 / 152.2
Physical: 5-5, 137 pounds; Average, slender build. 7.66 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Loads straight back with a heel lift for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a limited effort from the legs. Showed a moderate swing path with a two handed finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 84 MPH via Trackman.
Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; uses prep step while covering ground laterally. Hands are underneath the body with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 75 MPH.
Pitching: Uses a center rubber setup while using an angled drop step. Belt high leg drive with a slight lean over the belt. Has a moderate stride landing inline with the plate. Long arm swing while arm stays in line with 2B; high 3/4 slot. Spins off 1B side with finish. FB: Peak velo of 74 MPH, while sitting 71-74 MPH; arm side run. CB: 60-63 MPH; early action.
Physical: Lean, broad-shouldered at 5-foot-5, 137-pounds. 4.08 runner in the 30YD.
Offensively: RHH. Started just outside the hips with loose hands at the shoulder. Utilized a deliberate lift-and-replace stride, working down onto the heel; initiated his swing through a flat path into the hitting zone. Recorded a T82MPH EV and showed more ground balls than line-drives.
Defensively: The primary shortstop played beneath the ball with low posture and a soft glove on the transfer. Flashed an accurate, shorter H ¾ slot that changed angles across the INF (76MPH).
Pitching: RHP. Begins off the left side of the mound; compact stack position and drive out from the glute. FB sat 74-75MPH ITZ, mixing a smaller, developing 64-66 CB.
