10/3/15 Very projectable 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame. Uncommitted senior sat 81-83 with more in the tank from a high 3/4 arm slot. Displayed excellent balance and repeatable mechanics with above average command of the strike zone. Showcased a 73 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation with good tilt, a 73 mph changeup with arm-side run and an above average splitter at 73 mph. He also showcased a drop down curveball at 65 mph, a 69 mph changeup with some arm side run and a 64 mph splitter that he commanded for strikes. Shimmel will need to work on his foot speed and agility to continue his progression to the next level.
