Infield Velocity
The athlete's maximum throwing velocity from an infield position in the given event year. Measured in miles per hour (MPH).
80.0
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Physical: Lengthy, high-waisted, athletic 5-foot-11, 172lb frame. 8.10 runner in the 60.
Offensively: LHH - Upright, solid based stance with the hands operating just outside the shoulder. Utilized a short leg lift stride to initiate his swing through a direct, slightly vertical path into the hitting zone. Generated some attacking play with long arms out over the plate, producing a 38% line drive rate (via Trackman) mostly to the pull-side of the field. Recorded an 82 mph bat-exit velocity at his peak, good enough for occasional doubles power when squaring it up. Efficient rotational hitter with ability to start and stop quickly.
Defensively: The first baseman featured athletic movements around the bag at first, trusting the glove hand at a low, wide base when fielding. Shuffled while maintaining posture through the release at H ¾, delivering accurately to the target (slight arm side run, 80 mph).
Pitching: LHP - The southpaw set up from the glove side of the mound using a slightly offset starting position. Found a balanced stack position with some hip-coil, using gravity to start the forward move towards the plate. Generated easy separation with some Chris Sale to the slot (tough ¾). The FB ranged from 78-80 mph with up to 16 inches of arm-side run at 1728rpms. Mixed a lateral 66-68 mph SL with feel to spin and land for strikes. Added a quality 65-67 mph CH with sell out of the hand and consistent fade.
7/13/21
Physical: Lanky, projectable 5-foot-11, 172lb frame (leverage). 8.43 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Controlled, even start as the hands began flush at the shoulder. Utilized a shorter leg lift stride to initiate a slightly uphill path into the hitting zone towards impact. Worked into a softer, adjustable front side at the point of attack and produced a T83 mph bat-exit velocity with strong rotational scores. Matched pitch plane early while hitting behind the ball and stayed on a mostly pull-side approach during his round. Could suck the hands in on the inner half for mostly singles power down the line (30% line drive rate via Trackman).
Defensively: The first baseman operated with medium/higher posture, bending at the waist with a semi-soft glove hand out in front. The feet featured left, right sequence, maintaining direction to the target after a clean funnel into the pocket. Released from an accurate, ¾ slot (75 mph arm, arm-side run).
Pitching: LHP - The lefty started off the right side of the bump with average tempo in the delivery; showed some hip coil at a medium stack, landing in-line as the arm slotted on-time at a ¾ release. The FB landed with heavy arm-side run at 1507rpms and 12 inches of HM (76-78 mph). Mixed in a smaller, lateral 66-68 mph CB with 1/7 tilt to it (gradual shape).
