5/8/17 Right-handed hitting first baseman from appears to have added significant size and strength to his previously documented 6-foot, 175-pound frame. Swing is initiated with knee-to-knee leg kick. Loose hands, excellent separation, an explosive lower half along with quick hands leads to well above average bat speed. Although not observed on this day, power to all fields is expected. There is significant length to swing with a lot of moving parts. However, head is still and good balance is maintained. Although unable to get home to first on this day Hess obviously runs very well for corner infielder possibly translating to ability to play corner outfield at next level.
