Physical: Large, athletic 6-foot-4, 200lb frame with big time projection. 7.03 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Wide, slightly open stance with the barrel resting flat on the shoulder to start; utilized a short leg lift stride to initiate the hands through a flat, slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Generated consistent lift to the RF side of the field, finishing upright at the finish while hitting into a stiff front side. Notched a 42% fly ball rate per Trackman Baseball and worked his way up to a 95 mph bat-exit velocity. The bat to ball skills play with minimal swing/miss, that translated well over to game action. Projects as a situational hitter with ability to collect RBI somewhere in the middle of the order.
Defensively: The primary first baseman featured a subtle “hop” in the prep step. Arrived on time with a medium posture, bending at the waist with a medium soft glove hand operating slightly out in front. Released from a low ¾ slot with reach out in front (71 mph arm).
2/15/20
6-foot-4, 200-pound left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a short, lift-and-replace stride. Displayed a feel for the barrel while struggling at times to get his hips fully cleared allowing his above average frame to work efficiently. Potential for legitimate home run power in the future. Registered a bat exit velocity of 93 mph and ran a 6.87 60-yard dash. Worked out at first base, but foot speed would allow for a potential move to the outfield as well at the next level.
