Sultzaberger is a 6-foot-1, 215-pound catcher from Susquenita HS. He was the starting catcher for Susquenita as a freshman in 2012 and helped lead the Harrisburg Junior Division team to the RBI World Series.
2/16/14 The 6-foot-1, 215-pound left-handed hitter has some stiffness in his swing but showed the ability to barrel the baseball frequently with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. Sultzaberger starts from a slightly open stance and strides closed making it difficult for him to clear his hips regularly cutting off some of his power potential. He registered a 4.45 home-to-1B time and flashed pop times of 2.09-2.16 on throws of 72 mph from the crouch. Sultzaberger showed a quick release and very accurate arm.
11/2/13 Sultzaberger is a solidly built 6-foot-1, 215-pound C/OF that hits from the left side. He has a tendency to not clear his front side which prevents him from getting through the baseball. Sultzaberger displayed a bat exit velocity of 80 mph from the tee. He showcased pop times of 2.09-2.22 on throws of 71 mph from the crouch.
2/23/13 Sultzaberger has worked extremely hard this winter on all facets of his game and the hard work is paying off. The 6-foot, 195-pound left-handed hitter had a much improved round of batting practice squaring the baseball consistently and lining pitches to the pull side of the field. He has made some adjustments in his lower half to free up his hands and the result was an improved 80 mph bat exit velocity. Sultzaberger has made dramatic gains defensively that led to pop times of 2.04-2.12 on throws of 73 mph out of the crouch. With his frame, and work ethic, it is not hard to imagine continued improvements from the sophomore over the next three years.
1/26/13 Sultzaberger showed a staggering improvement in his pop times from previous events this winter. The 6-0, 195-pound sophomore showed pop times of 2.16-2.22 on throws of 72 mph from the crouch. Offensively he has difficulty squaring pitches on the inner half of the plate due to a lack of hip rotation. He is a very hard worker who should be able to make adjustments in his swing over time to vastly improve his 73 mph bat exit velocity. When he does, he has the physical size and athleticism to be able to hit for average and some power.
1/13/13 Sultzaberger is showing steady progress behind the plate. He showcased pop times of 2.29-2.35 on throws of 69 mph from the crouch. He ran a 7.65 60-yard dash and had a solid round of batting practice. Sultzaberger has some power potential and is working on his lower half to free up his hands to do more work.
12/28/12 Sultzaberger showed well behind the plate and offensively. The left-handed hitter used a 74 mph bat exit speed to drive baseballs to the pull side. With work, he could develop additional pop in his swing. Defensively he displayed pop times of 2.50-2.59 on throws of 71 mph from the crouch.
