Physical: 6-foot-1, 200 pounds; Full, muscular build. 7.14 runner in the 60.
Offensively: Switch hitter. Open setup, with feet shoulder width apart; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with a slight leg-kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a flat swing path with a one-handed finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 91R/72L MPH via Trackman. From the right side, much more fluid wiith quick actions. Similar stance, but holds scap load much longer and finds the barrel routinely.
Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; uses prep hop while covering ground laterally. Hands are out in front with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a high 3/4 arm slot. INF - 85 MPH.
Pitching: Uses a center rubber setup while using a side step. Mid chest leg drive with shoulders above the hips. Has a long stride landing inline with the plate. Short take back while showing some scap load; high 3/4 slot. Square to the plate with finish. FB: Peak velo of 88 MPH, while sitting 83-85 MPH; life through the zone. SL: 70-72 MPH; slurve like. CH: 76-80 MPH; fading action.
Michael Rodriques: SS/3B, (2023) Sharon, PA. 6-foot-1, 200-pound. During batting practice, Rodriques displayed an exit velocity of 93 mph, Top 3 EV at the showcase. (66.6 mph bat speed average). (20.1 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced athletic stance with a quick load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed is quick, exhibits a simple short swing plane and good extension on his finish. Solid while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 84 mph; showed soft hands, a clean exchange, and quick feet. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. Showed a quick arm action and a high ¾ slot. Recorded a 60 time of 7.21 at the event. On the mound, used a high ¾ arm angle with a loose arm action while showing quick arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who uses easy effort. Threw his fastball 84-85 mph with a max of 86 mph; Has slight running action. He has some action on his changeup (70-71). Had late action on his 10/4 slider (69-70).
