Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Physical: Lean and athletic 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with feel for his body. 7.17 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Begins with a bent even setup as the hands start above the shoulder with slight rhythm. Utilized a barrel lift coupled with a leg-hang stride to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. Showed some length in the swing, but got the hands out on time to the baseball with regularity creating natural loft to the pull-side during batting practice. An athletic and adjustable lower half helped the hands match plane early and often and generated solid power at impact. Liked to get his arms extended out over the plate and did damage when the long levers could go to work. Recorded a top bat-exit velocity of 93 mph according to Trackman Baseball with a 309 foot maximum batted ball distance.
Defensively: The primary shortstop featured rangy lateral movements and advanced footwork in the middle of the field. Repeatedly beat the ball to the spot with fluid, methodical actions and got downhill through the baseball while fielding off of the left side of his body. Quick catch and throw skills out of a lightning quick, high ¾ slot with a moderate/full arm circle. Made the play on the run with ease and really stood out during defensive evaluations. INF - 80 mph
