Comments

6/12/22

Physical: The now Seton Hall commit stands a powerful 6-foot-2, 210lbs. 7.22 runner in the 60.

Offensively: Switch-hitter who approached 100 mph from both sides (102 mph peak bat-exit velocity). Mirrored the setup from slightly open, wide with plenty of athleticism in legs. Loose hands showed rhythm and followed a simple leg lift stride through a flat, smooth path into the hitting zone. One-handed finish that produced line drives and occasional lift to the deep part of the yard (369 foot batted ball distance). Really knows how to turn the barrel (28 mph hand speed / 83 mph bat-speed). More lofted approach as a right-handed hitter.

Defensively: The third baseman showcased above-average footwork and body control to both sides. Played a plethora of hops well, always looking for better positioning with active feet. Slight downward chest and live 86 mph arm across diamond.

Pitching: RHP - The righty starts from the far left side of the rubber with a balanced delivery. Repeats well and changes arm-slots, creating deception out of the hand. FB sat 85-87, T88 mph at 2459 rpms AVG, up to 13 inches of HM. Mixed short, harder 76-78 mph CB with late lateral movement and gyro 78-80 mph SL.

3/06/21

Joseph Calabretti

Physical: 6’2 185lb IF/RHP ran a 7.61 laser timed 60 yard dash. Displays solid physical build that has strength throughout.

Offensively: Athletic switch hitter, Starts in an upright stance with a wide base. He keeps a good rhythm between his upper and lower half as he attacks down and through the ball. Becomes more rotational from the LH side.

Defensively: Shows the ability to move his feet efficiently prior to receiving the ball and funneling into the center of his body. His hands work confidently when receiving the ball and transferring into his throwing hand. Smooth athletic transitions made on the slow roller.

2/23/20

6-foot, 170-pound switch-hitter showed sound swing mechanics from both sides of the plate. Starts from a square stance and uses a lift-and-replace stride to begin. Stays behind the baseball well and showcase a feel for the barrel. Registered a top bat exit velocity of 85 mph and ran a 7.65 60-yard dash. Showcased active feet defensively while playing the baseball on the move with accurate 79 mph arm strength across the diamond. The righty sat 78-79 on the mound out of a 3/4 arm slot. Curveball sat 71-73 with slider like break. Also showcased a straight changeup at 72-73.

2/23/19

5-foot-11, 150-pound switch-hitter is a natural right-handed hitter. Calabretti used a square stance from the right-side and a quick leg lift to feature a 76 mph bat-exit-velocity. From the left-side, he utilized a square stance and a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. The lefty showed feel for the barrel as he hit behind the baseball well. Showcased active feet and soft hands during defensive evaluations as he registered throws of 71 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.88 60-yard dash. Right-handed pitcher displayed a side rocker-step and a repeatable delivery to command 72-73 mph fastballs with small arm-side-run out of a high 3/4 arm-slot. The righty featured 61-64 mph curveballs that he fought to get on top of. Changeups were thrown with similar arm-speed at 64-66 mph.
