2026 OF Trentin Kooy was one of just two 2026s on Prep Baseball’s 18U National Team but his hit tool stood out as one of the best on the team. The right-handed hitter was hot from the jump as he picked up a double and triple in the opener against Okanagan. Kooy moves well in all areas of his game which allows him to extend singles into extra-bases at times. This was our first time seeing Kooy on a national stage and he didn’t disappoint, proving he belongs on the field with the best in the country. The Saskatchewan native will be a fun watch over the next two summers as we expect to see plenty more from him.

The 2026 2-way continues to show us why he is one of the better 2026 on the West Coast of the country. It started on the mound where he sat 80-81 mph with the fastball, and spun a tight slider at 67-69 mph that had plenty of horizontal break to it. At the dish, he consistently worked back up middle with a line drive approach reaching a max EV of 89.5 mph. He also ran the 2nd best 60-yard dash at 7.01, and had the 2nd best OF velocity at 85 mph. Kooy is a 2026 to follow as he enters an important off-season of development.

Kooy has been one of the standout 2026’s we’ve seen across the country after we first saw him at spring training. At 5-foot-10, 175-pounds, Kooy’s athleticism and strength play on both sides of the ball. A 6.98 runner, Kooy takes good routes to balls and has shown the ability to track balls down in the gap. There’s pop from the right-side as he hit multiple balls hard down in Georgia, before breaking out for a triple down the RF line. Good first year on the national scene for Kooy and it will be interesting to see how he develops going into next summer.

2026 OF/RHP Trentin Kooy jumped out to our staff yesterday with his swing during Scout Day and impressed on the mound this afternoon as well. The fastball sat 73-76 T78 and his go-to offspeed is the slider. Athletic look on the mound at 5-foot-9, 167-pounds and competes. Still developing on the bump but there’s plenty to like and work with going forward. One of the standout 2026s from Day One here at Spring Training.

Good first showing on Sunday from 2026 OF/RHP Trentin Kooy. A 5-foot-9, 167-pound outfielder with good reads off contact, who has showcased an ability to route run. However his bat is nothing to overlook, with simple movements in his swing he was able to create contact with the barrel consistently as shown below. Looked comfortable in the batter’s box in each appearance, displaying a disciplined approach amongst peers going 1-2 with a walk and a pair of stolen bases.
