Grayson Smith has always shown some big time stuff with a FB up to 90 and a sharp, bending SL. He has to harness that stuff sometimes, but he garners a lot of swing n miss and uncomfortable at bats. McCallie will have a plethora of arms to utilize, but Smith is not an arm you'll want to see in the postseason as an opposing team. He recommitted from Stetson this summer and pledged to Florida for the next level, so expect the Gators to commit to shine this Spring.

Stetson Commit, 6-foot-2, 167-pound long, super projectable frame. Smooth, repeatable delivery with whippy arm that works to H 3/4 slot. Good shoulder tilt before working downhill into square landing. FB jumps out of the hand at 86-90, T91 with late sink, darting in on righties. Healthy dose of FB in his pitch usage. Flashed 74-78 mph breaking ball with sharp 11/5 action.
7/21/20
6’2, 167-pound righty showed a huge jump in velocity since we saw him last November, going from 81-83 to 84-87, touching 89. Tall, athletic frame w/ some well-proportioned lean strength, projectable. Pitches from a full wind-up into H ¾ to OTT release. Super quick arm w/ some downhill plane. FB shows ride through the zone, jumps out of his hand. Gets on you as a hitter. Medium downer CB w/ proper shape and rotation. CH w/ short fade and sink. Around the zone on this day, 11 of 20 for strikes. Tools to command as he continues to get more reps. Advanced 2023 pitching prospect.
11/09/19
6-foot-1, 163-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher, broad shoulders on top of a long frame, projectable build. On the mound, clean, continuous arm action, accelerates to a ¾ slot, strong arm. Drop and drive delivery, leads with hip down the mound, strides open, finishes square to home. Fastball, creates angles, sat 81-83. Curveball, 12/6 shape, depth, 60-63. Changeup, sinking action, feel for, 68-71. Offensively, balanced setup, short stride, high hands load back, good balance. Uphill barrel path, lets the ball travel, line drive contact middle/opposite field, 81 exit velocity. Defensively, worked out on the infield and at catcher, arm works short, slot predominantly high ¾, showed the ability to use multiple slots on the infield, 72 across the infield, 68 from the crouch. Fields position with confidence, good glove hand on the infield, quick and clean on exchanges behind the dish, pop times ranged 2.11-2.22.
10/11/19
One of the top arms, as well as one of the youngest arms of the weekend. Had 3 shut down innings to start his outing. FB worked up to 85, and he settled in at 81-83. Really strong delivery, and the arm works well. More velo left in the lower-half. Competed at the bottom of the zone with really good life on the fastball. A top arm in the 2023 class to keep a close eye on.
