10/15/16 - Home-1st: 4.87, Pop Time: 2.01-2.07, Position Velocity: C - 78, Exit Velocity: 84
6-foot-1, 210-pound, RHH was the same Kaden Dreier we have seen all along, consistent and solid with a gamer’s mentality, slightly open stance with a smooth leg kick and stride to get loaded puts him in a good position to hit, uses a barrel tilt to get his hands loaded, lower half gets through the zone and creates a strong base for him, bat path is pretty steep but he is able to square the ball up a lot, line drive approach at the plate is best with staying gap-to-gap. Defensively, shows soft hands and pretty good footwork, gets rid of the ball well and with firm and straight throws to 2B, works hard for his pitchers. Dreier did some good things at the plate but was only able to draw 1 walk and steal a base.
9/25/16 - 60 Time: 7.64, Pop Time: 1.97-2.04, Position Velocity: C-79, Exit Velocity: 86
6-foot-2, 190-pound, RHH hits from a balanced and slightly open stance with some relaxed pre-pitch hand movement, uses a leg kick and a long stride with hand movement up and back to get loaded, lower half fires well and gets his backside through although coming forward a little much at times, bat path is steep through the zone and forces some ground balls, Future Games and Border Battle participant had a good round of BP with some line drives up the middle and a couple in the gap. Defensively, showed soft hands and good footwork that can get quicker, clean exchange and short arm action through a high ¾ slot got balls to 2B with good accuracy.
10/18/15 - 6-foot-1, 210-pound right-handed hitter with strong lower half, hits from a slightly open stance, loads back on front foot and gets to square with a longer stride, good strength in swing that generates bat speed, 83mph exit velocity off the tee, showed flashes of pull-side power in good round of BP, ran 4.87 down the line, went 1-for-3 in game play with a single to left field. Solid receiver behind the plate with soft glove hand, quick footwork that stays online, quick high-3/4 release, 73 mph velocity from the crouch with 1.97-2.08 pop times. Dreier shows a good combination of offensive and defensive ability.
