7-21-2018: One more athletic middle infielder that caught my eye was Wichita State’s Alex Jackson, a rising junior. Like Torres and Ball, Jackson is a talented defender whose range, actions and arm strength play at short, at least at the collegiate level. Jackson’s bat remains a question mark, as he posted a .615 OPS in 179 at-bats as a freshman and a .616 OPS in 88 at-bats as a sophomore this spring. He’s a left-handed hitter with a contact-oriented approach, and he’s having a solid summer for Winter Park, hitting .295 with five doubles and a homer in 78 at-bats. He has shown a patient approach this summer, drawing 17 walks and fanning 15 times. He’s also a solid-average runner with some feel to steal bases. (Aaron Fitt)
