Physically, the 6-foot-3, 230-pounder is everything you’d want from a frontline starting pitcher. He is big, strong and just flat overpowers the baseball to produce mid-90s heat. However, his fastball plays much lighter than its velo. The 92-96 played soft and the Razorbacks attacked his fastball, finding barrel after barrel for several 100+ mph EVs over his 1.2 inning start. He allowed five hits, walked one, struck out one. The right-hander also mixed a 86-88 cutter with a 83-84 slider and seldom used mid-80s changeup. Last season Brown tallied a 4.42 ERA in 53 innings, along with 49 strikeouts and 31 walks. This season he will need to become more consistent with his command and not just throw to the middle of the plate. If he’s able to do this, earlier in Day Two is his likely landing spot.

6-foot-3, 215-pound, athletic frame with a high waist. The right-hander worked from a ¾ slot, with solid repeatability to his delivery. His fastball was 89-91 mph early on and 86-88 mph later in the outing. Threw a 2-seam fastball as well that flashed good run in to right-handed hitters. Had good command of his curveball at 71-73 with 11-5 shape. Flashed a changeup at 80-81 mph with late arm side run and good depth. At the plate, he’s quick to the ball and has really solid power to his swing. Hit a homerun to straight away CF.

The right-hander works from a ¾ slot with a loose, ultra quick arm stroke and athletic delivery. His fastball had late arm side run at 88-89 mph early in the outing, settling into the 85-86 range, but still flashing the occasional 87 and 88 into his third and fourth inning of work. Curveball had 10/4 shape with big break at 69-71 mph.
