With a full slate of PBR Events and summer tournaments under our belt, we are happy to bring you our first ranking of the 2020 class.
+ SS/RHP Tanner Witt (Episcopal HS) takes the number one spot in Texas. Witt has an athletic, projectable, long-limbed frame at 6-foot-4, 185-pounds. As a two-way standout, Witt helped lead Episcopal HS to an SPC State Championship this past spring. Witt has smooth footwork and quick actions on the infield with a fast exchange and ability to play on the run. On the mound, the right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a clean arm stroke. His fastball usually sits 88-90 mph, but there is more velocity to come in the future. Also has a good feel for both a curveball at 73-75 mph, and a changeup at 78-79 mph.
+ Another two-way talent from the Houston area comes in at No. 2 with SS/RHP Masyn Winn (Kingwood HS). Winn has a fast-twitch, athletic frame at 5-foot-9, 150-pounds, and is a true competitor on both sides of the ball. Not only did he stand out during the HS season as a starter this past year at Kingwood HS, but he was electric at the Underclass Area Code Tryouts. His fastball is routinely in the upper-80’s, touching the low-90's. He works from a high slot with a quick, repeatable arm stroke and good feel for a mid-70’s curveball. Winn is also a slick fielding second baseman that could easily transition to shortstop in the near future. He has a high motor, plays with energy and is the first guy on and off the field every inning. Even though Winn has a smaller frame, he has lightning-quick hands and can handle velocity.
+ Catcher Drew Romo (The Woodlands HS) takes the No. 3 spot after a stellar spring and summer season. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound, LSU commit has outstanding arm strength and elite actions behind the plate. He throws with true carry to second base, posting sub-2.0 pop times with accuracy and an easy arm swing. At the plate, the switch-hitter has a balanced, athletic swing with good barrel awareness. For good measure, Romo started at shortstop last year for The Woodlands HS, showing further proof of his ability to play premium positions both now, and in the future.
+ Coming in at No. 4 is another talented two-way player in SS/RHP Aaron Nixon (McCallen HS). Nixon is a polished shortstop with a powerful bat. The Texas commit, stands 6-feet, 190-pounds and can pitch in the low-90’s. Taking the No. 5 spot in our ranking is TCU commit, RHP/1B Cam Brown (Flower Mound HS). Brown stands 6-foot-2, 190-pounds with a strong pitchers frame. At the Area Code Games in August, Brown's fastball had good life, jumping out of his hand 87-89 mph with a sharp mid-70’s curveball.
