June 2017 Area Code Tryouts - Texas A&M recruit. 6-foot, 190-pound, strong, fast-twitch frame. Townsend ran a 6.68-second 60-yard dash and made hard contact during batting practice, showcasing quick hands and barrel awareness. The right-handed hitter had a broken bat single in his first at-bat, then made hard contact to right-field on a curveball and tripled to right field in his last at-bat. Townsend has a nice combination of speed and bat speed.
2/8/20: Hitting cleanup for the Gators, Townsend tapped into his power with two loud home runs on Saturday at Chipola. The first, a big fly to deep center field in the 8th inning against Chipola, and the second launched during the nightcap against Florida Southwestern. He’s an above average runner who also showed an above average-to-plus arm from right field during I/O. He began his college career at Texas A&M and currently looks to be one of the top uncommitted JC bats.
