3/3/19: Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 215 pounds, Triolo is athletic, mobile and looks the part of big leaguer. With a longer, athletic stride that eats up ground, he ran a 4.17 and 4.20 from the right side to first base. He's also a capable basestealer with 17 his sophomore year and two in 10 games thus far this season. At the plate he showed a slightly open stance, balanced approach and smooth swing, but does have a bit too much length and a hole on the inner third of the plate. He creates extra length by allowing his elbow to get out of slot and his hands to get away from his body during his swing. As a result, he hits around the baseball with his average bat speed. With an adjustment he should be able to create more whip and allow rotation with the big muscles of the body to drive the barrel to the ball and get to the power his physical body type suggests. On the dirt, he stays low and works from the ground up. He showed to be a below-average defender during game action on this look, yet was much smoother with more sure hands and throwing accuracy during pre-game infield. He has plenty of arm (plus) and the necessary hands, feet, body control and instincts to become at least an average defender at the next level. Overall, there are not too many tall, strong, athletic-bodied infielders in the country who possess his tools package. With another solid season with the bat, expect Triolo to go early on Day Two. 8/8/18: 6’4, 220 pounds. Strong bodied with an ideal frame for 3B. Triolo came to the Cape after a terrific sophomore season at Houston where he produced a .344/.434/.457 slash line and started in all 63 games. Shows average range with a soft glove hand on defense. Compact throwing motion with above average arm strength. In the box, average bat speed with some effort in the swing. Still growing into his body, projects to hit for more power as he adds strength. Primed to have a big junior season at the plate and Day Two draft potential. (D Jurik)
