08.08.17 - Area Code Games - RHP Kolby Kubichek (Bryan HS, TX) started for the Rangers (Texas/Louisiana) and had just one batter reach on an error in three innings while striking out five. He has an undersized but athletic frame and pitches with a very simple, compact delivery. His fastball was 88-91, touching 92, an he flashed a sharp curveball with depth and 11/5 shape at 75-76. At times, it was slurvy and slower, in the low 70s. He also showed above-average feel for a changeup with sink and fade in the low 80s.
06.20.17 - 6-foot, 164-pound, athletic frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a quick arm stroke. His fastball sat 90-91 mph, topping out once at 92 mph. He commands his curveball for strikes at 74-75 mph, while his changeup was 84 mph. He threw only one slider at the end of his outing for a punchout at 80 mph.
8/1/19:During a quick look at the Cape All-Star Game, the 6-foot, 170 pound right-hander relied on an above average changeup at 82-84 mph and a 92-93 mph fastball to pitch a scoreless inning of relief. Throwing from a high three-quarter slot with moderate effort, the athletic righty showed a compact, on-line delivery. Other than the overly closed position of his front foot at landing which could cause knee issues down the road, it’s a polished delivery that should be conducive to consistent strike-throwing. Entering the playoffs, the competitive Kubichek has a 0.90 ERA in 30 IP with nine walks and 34 strikeouts. (Seifert)
