06.14.17 - 6-foot-3, 215-pound, sturdy, projectable frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a short, clean arm stroke and gets his hand in front on extension. Fairly athletic, drop and drive delivery, good hip turn as he gets down the mound, lands closed, falls off to his glove side on finish. His fastball topped out at 85 mph, works mostly 82-84 mph with slight run from strikes. His breaking ball has limited action, 10-4 shape and spins in the zone. His changeup was 77-78 mph with fade for strikes. Berens is a projectable, large framed junior with a clean arm and high upside, look for more velocity and better action on his offspeed pitches in the future.
