07.22.17 - 6-foot, 175-pound, athletic frame. The right-hander works from a high slot with a medium arm circle and fairly quick arm stroke. Up-tempo, drop-and-drive delivery, unorthodox reach of the front leg but repeats his delivery well. Lands in-line, fairly athletic lower half finish, upper body recoils. Attacks the zone with a straight fastball sitting mostly 81-84 mph, did flash one at 85 and another at 86 mph. Works mostly to his glove side with his fastball cutting into LHH's. Fastball flattens out to the same side of the plate to RHH's. Curveball has short break and 11/5 shape, flashed tight spin in warmups at 70-74 mph, but he missed high arm side during the game. Maintains fastball arm speed on changeup at 74-76 mph with depth.
A two-way player and right-handed hitter, Shearer has a crouched stance, relaxed load, short stride, barrel works down on plane with average bat speed and a high finish. Rotational weight transfer on balls on the inner half. Flashed strength to the pull side. On the infield, Shearer has average footwork and hands with a longer exchange. Threw 82 mph across the infield from a high-¾ slot to his backhand side. Throws from a more natural ¾ slot when he plays to his glove side and makes the play on the run.

05.06.17 - Tall and lanky 3B.  Made a nice diving play on defense and displayed a strong accurate arm.   He was 3-3 with a two RBI double at the plate.  Strong plate presence, quick hands and the ability to drive the baseball.
