5’10/190, Junior. Had an outstanding first four innings, mowing down the LSU lineup while showing above average control of his fastball. Early in the game it sat 92-94, touching 95 mph with plus sink. Maintained 90-94 throughout his 86 pitch outing. Average slider, flashed plus at 83-86 mph. Lost feel for it in the 5th and as a result, the hitters sat fastball and knocked him out of the game. Average curveball at 78-79 mph. Threw one changeup at 81 mph and missed wide to his arm side. Works quick, gets the sign and goes. Superior competitor who is undersized and pitches with a chip on his shoulder. Also has tunnel vision focus on the hitter. Sometimes that focus gets the best of him as he doesn’t hold runners too well. Long to the plate (1.45 on fastball) and doesn’t possess the quickest of pickoff moves. Expect Shugart to be drafted early on Day 2
