07.22.17 - Dean is one of the top hitters still available in the 2019 class and had a standout performance at the North Texas Prospect Games. At 6-foot-1, 180-pounds, Dean has a strong, athletic, quick-twitch frame. The right-handed hitter has an athletic setup, starts with a smooth leg-kick, lands balanced. Good rotation to contact with lower half, strong hands, quick bat with barrel awareness. In-game, Dean had an ultra-aggressive approach and did not get cheated, taking aggressive swings and smashing multiple balls foul to the pull side with authority. Although he did not have much to show for it, he smoked a double play ball to third base on a curveball. Then, in his second at-bat, he just missed crushing a ball when he took a full swing and popped up to shortstop with plus hang time. Dean ran a 6.83-60 in socks, and registered an exit velocity of 89 mph off the tee.
