The top arm at the Preseason ID and now scheduled to be in attendance at the Preseason All-State (Invite Only - Feb 22nd at Crimson Cliffs HS). He has really morphed over the past year or two and doesn’t even look like he used to! Has really taken his body to another level, along with his tools. The delivery is more controlled and the moving parts are compact and within a small window to operate. The back leg and leverage is in place with breaking over the rubber to allow his arm to catch up. Does need a tad more ext out front to finish pitches down in the zone and allow the arm side tail to be more effective. The FB touched 87 and it wouldn’t surprise me when in mid season form and being from a very cold weather locale, if he doesn’t see a 90 pop up moving forward over the next couple of months. The spin of 2,011 should take another jump as he adds another foot to the FB (2-3 mph) and the breaking ball is his bread and butter pitch right now. It’s a tight OH 12/6 and when he catches it eight, he can get some 11/5 two plane tilt and depth. The pitch spun at a max of 2,561, which is above to well above avg and avg’ed 2,471 with 17 inches of vertical break for its apex to finish in the mitt. The CH 78-80 has some power to it and kills the spin at 1,849. The 3 pitch mix allows for a starters role and will be one of my “picks to click,” come March!
