VA/DC State Games
Gabello is 6-3 with a big athletic frame that has strength and some projection left to it. He throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, short loose quick arm action and some effort to his delivery. Big high leg kick, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands slightly closed with some fall off in his finish and some recoil. Fastball was 85-87, touching 88, with downward angle and some heavy late armside run. Curveball had good armspeed and was 72-73 with late hard 12/6 break to it, pitch flashes swing and miss down.
Strong frame with some projection left to it. Broad shoulders and strong back. Pitches with some effort and intent. Quick arm speed throwing from a three-quarter arm slot. Fastball sat 86-88 mph and had carry through the zone with a spin rate that generally stayed between 2200-2350 and got up to 2444 once. Breaking ball was 65-69 mph with a 11/5 shape and 2200+ spin rate. Fastball got some swings and misses in his two innings of work.
Preseason All-State II
Gabello is 6-3 with a strong frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an athletic stance, short stride on line, short load down. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains good balance. Keeps hands inside the ball, strong at contact with extension through the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing, exit velocity was 96. At first base, gets body behind ball and fields with average hands. Clean release, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, infield velocity was 89. On the mound, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short quick arm action, high effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish. Fastball was 89-90, with some late bore to armside. Curveball had good armspeed and sharp 10/4 break at 69-72.
