VA/DC Scout Blog 4/9/18
Lanky frame, threw from a three-quarters arm slot, very fast arm. Fastball was 78-82, touching 83, flattened out when in the top of the zone. Curveball had late hard 10/4 break and was thrown with good armspeed, running 66-68. Made a very athletic play to field a drag bunt near the third base line and throw the runner out. Command and control was inconsistent, but he has a very high ceiling and a fast arm to go with a potential swing and miss breaking ball.
9.16.17: Tolson has a lankier frame. He has a ton of athleticism and a short quick stroke with the potential to bring a lot of speed as well. Toolsy raw athlete. Ran a 4.45 home to first. Hits from an open athletic stance, short stride slightly open, no load. Explosive lower half and some balance to swing. Short level swing with extension uphill through the ball, quick bat, plenty of power potential.
3.23.17: Athletic frame, hits from right side, from an athletic stance. Short stride on line, slight load back, good hip explosion and some balance during swing. Very short to ball, level line drive swing with some batspeed. Home to first was 4.41.
