VA/DC PreSeason All-State Central
Rodriguez is 5-10 with an athletic 185 pound frame that has some strength in the lower half and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open balanced athletic stance, short stride on line, short smooth load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, some strength at contact, showed a good approach primarily working the middle of the field with a slight pull preference, some power present in the gaps, exit velocity was 91. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with average hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action, position velocity was 83. Ran a 7.07 60 yard dash.
VA/DC Limited Series East
Solid athletic frame. Starts from a wider athletic stance with a simple stride forward. Hands are back, level path to contact, and barrel stays in the zone. Had a gap to gap approach at the plate with some doubles power to the pull side. Profiles as a corner outfielder with above average arm strength from the outfield.
Preseason All-State
Rodriguez is 5-10 with a lankier athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open athletic stance, short stride on line, smooth load back, hips rotate completely with some violence, some balance during his swing. Quick to the ball, keeps hands inside, slightly uphill line drive swing, showed good approach working the middle of the field, potential for some doubles power, exit velocity was 84. In the outfield, rounds ball and fields in direction of target with soft hands. Works through ball, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 76. Ran a 4.21 home to first. On the mound, he throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot with a short free arm action and effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and on line, lands square with athletic finish. Fastball was 71-74 with some boring action to its armside. Curveball was 63-64 with gradual 11/5 break and good armspeed, break was sharper when down. Change-up was 68-70 with good armspeed and some cut that also has depth.
