11/9/2014: Vazquez stands 6-foot-2 and has an athletic frame. He throws from a low three-quarters slot and has a short, loose arm action that generates easy velocity. His mechanics are smooth and he does a good job of staying on line throughout his delivery. Vazquez’s fastball has heavy run to it and sat 85-87, touching 88. He also threw an outstanding slider with sharp, late break that came in 75-78. Vazquez flashed a change-up with late fade that ran 74-77. He showed outstanding command of his fastball and slider to both sides of the plate and kept his change-up down.
Vazquez is a 6-foot-2, 195-pound, First Baseman that hit from balanced stance with high hands. He had a short/compact load back, slight hitch, with an inward turn of the knee, and a very short stride. Leverage in the swing, raw power, backspin, gap-to-gap approach. Ability to mishit a baseball and hit it out of the ballpark. Had an exit velocity of 86 mph off of the tee. In the field, Vazquez had feel around the bag. Showed average lateral movement and hands. Had a slightly above arm with a positional velocity of 78 mph.
