VA/DC Scout Blog

Ertlschweiger is a James Madison commit and is 6-0 with an athletic frame with strength present in the lower half and some projection left to it. Throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, longer quick loose arm action with normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball sat 87 in first inning, touching 88 and 89 once each, settled into 86-87 as the game progressed, still grabbing an 88 in the third inning. Held throughout the game in the 86-87 range with a few dialed back to 83, pitch has heavy armside run that has some late two-plane action as well. Breaking ball has slider tilt, some armspeed, gradual 10/4 break, pitch was 68-73. His best secondary pitch was his split/change, which he threw with good armspeed at 74-77, pitch had sharp hard dive to it with 1/7 action, got swings-and-misses with it.
