Belser has an athletic frame and speed and defense remain his top tools. He gets good jumps in the outfield and covers a lot of ground. His arm is accurate but below average, but he is an asset in the balls that he gets to and the havoc he can wreak on the bases. At the plate, he has made a massive adjustment to his swing. He is still short to the ball, but he is now level to contact instead of chopping down and he gets extension uphill through contact, creating loft. He is still a hitter who prefers line drives and to use the middle of the field and his speed, but power is a threat that he has now. In his second at-bat, he got his hands inside and worked through a Lockhart fastball, driving it for a moonshot home run to left-center. Showed his strength on the home run, didn't seem like he had gotten it off the bat but it just kept going.
5.4.17: At the plate, hits from the right side, short swing, line drive to slap approach. A lot of speed. In the outfield, gets very good breaks on the ball and truly covers gap to gap already in center.
