Uncommitted. Gruening put together one of the most impressive performances of the event. An athletic 5-foot-10, 164-pound frame began the event posting a max EV of 96.9 mph, 354’ max batted ball distance, 72.9 mph max bat speed, and showing 85 mph across the diamond. The right-handed bat would take this into gameplay, starting with an oppo double, 92.2 off the bat, driving a fastball down and away. Displaying the speed by swiping third base a few pitches later, a twitchy athlete looking the part. In the next at-bat would draw a four-pitch walk and end things with a line drive single, 95.3 mph off the bat. Showed quality at-bats throughout all of gameplay with a toolset to follow this coming spring.

Some of the more intriguing tools at the event, Gruening started the day off running a 7.01 60-yard, followed up by an impressive round of batting practice, where he showcased a simple operation at the plate with a quick, whippy bat and hands that rotate tight to the body, allowing for a peak exit velocity of 95.5 mph and a peak batted distance of 351 feet with feel to pull the ball in the air. The athleticism plays in the infield as well with clean footwork, feel for the pocket, and arm strength up to 84 mph across the infield with carry. Name to know.

+ INF Kameron Gruening (Hudson, 2028) is an interesting middle infield prospect who had a nice performance on Sunday. Gruening has athletic actions in the middle infield and showcased quickness laterally and smooth footwork through the ball. During hitting, Gruening demonstrated a well-sequenced right handed swing with barrel accuracy throughout his round. His 5-foot-9, 149 pound frame will certainly add more mass and strength which will allow the metrics to tick up in the near future.
