So. RHP Michael Merline (Oak Creek, WI) stands out physically with his 6-foot-4, 205-pound frame, he has some strength throughout his build but also looks to still have room to add on more. His fastball played in the mid-80s, topping out at 87 mph with significant carry and angle due to his over-the-top slot. His curveball showed tight downer shape in the 74-75 mph range, playing with over 2,300 rpm at times. His final offering was a straight changeup with slight arm-side run at times, 76-78 mph.
3/19/22

Pitched in front of our staff for the first time in a showcase setting and displayed above-average arm strength throughout Saturday's pen. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound junior worked around the zone with an 86-88 mph fastball from a relatively low-effort operation.

10/17/20

Positional Profile: OF/1B
Body: 6-3, 210-pounds. Long levers with strength; physical, especially for his age.
Hit: RH. Tall stance, closed feet, open front foot, hands set high. In load, weight shifts onto back leg; back shoulder drops, shoulders go distinctly uphill, lead leg strides even. Hips and torso fire simultaneously, flattens barrel to create long, level path through the zone, with extension in finish and through impact. Creates natural bat speed, averaged a speed of 71.1 mph. Some barrel feel helps create on-plane consistency.
Power: 95 mph exit velocity from the tee. Inherent strength creates raw power profile, but plane lessens launch angle; max exit speed of 97.7 mph during batting practice.
Arm: RH. OF - 84 mph. Compact arm circle to a 3/4 slot. Above-average arm strength, especially for his age.
Defense: Raw overall actions; deliberate footwork. Efficient shuffle through exchange, transfer. Some fluidity while working through the ball.
Run: 7.88 runner in the 60.

3/08/20

Positional Profile: OF/3B
Body: 6-foot-2, 180-pounds. Tall, long levers; some strength in upper half, broad shoulders.
Delivery: Upright start from the middle of the rubber; big side step shuffle to left side of rubber, level knee lift, early separation, short stride to open landing.
Arm Action: RH. Short, compact arm circle, 3/4 release; above-average arm speed.
FB: T75, 73-75 mph. Some hard, heavy arm-side action.
CH: 66-69 mph. Somewhat maintains typical arm speed; similar arm-side action, run/sink.

Hit: RHH. Tall setup, loads weight back with slight heel lift stride. Path is long and uphill.
Power: 79 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. OF - 82 mph. Long arm action out of 3/4 slot, slight carry.
Defense: Methodical actions work directly through the baseball, long crowhop to release.
