Arm Action: LH. Long arm swing to low 3/4 slot; loose, whippy. Average release height of 3.77 feet. FB: T82, 79-80 mph. Slot helps create substantial run/sink; averaged -16.8 inches of horizontal action and a spin rate of 1,844 rpm. CB: 65-67 mph. Gradual action from a higher slot; breaks early, though featured some depth and feel to locate. SL: 71-73 mph. More closely matches his typical arm slot, creating more deception. Sweeping movement, some sharp. CH: 73-74 mph. Tunnels well, matches slot; generates less arm-side action than fastball, but a viable pitch.

LHP Mitch Fassbender (Wauwatosa West, 2021) twirled a quick and solid outing over at Wisconsin Lutheran College during the 11 a.m. slot. The lean, lanky southpaw threw six innings, allowing only one run and striking out six while walking none. His fastball sat 78-81 mph, touching 82 mph throughout his outing and he controlled it well, consistently pounding the zone for strikes. It’s pretty evident that Fassbender has a lot of trust in his breaking ball; a sweeping pitch in the 68-70 mph range that he went to quite a lot. There’s a lot to like with Fassbender, most notably the potential he brings to the mound should he fill out his frame. He’s an uncommitted arm still looking for a place to call home at the next level.
