OUTLOOK:

The Elberta Warriors were extremely young in 2019 and will once again field a very young team in 2020 but several players gained valuable experience a year ago. Coach Gary Johnston returns nine positional starters and ten pitchers that saw time on the time during the 2019 season. The strength of the team appears to be the pitching staff while the Warriors will be looking for a few players to provide a spark to the offensive lineup. ’21 SS/RHP Brady Krueger started every game last year as a sophomore and hit .361 while also posting a 3.52 ERA in 42 innings. He struck out 58 hitters and was also 10/12 on stolen base attempts. The Warriors look for another solid year out of him. The Warriors welcome back ’21 INF/RHP Trey Simpkins this year after he missed all of last year due to an injury. Simpkins will pitch a lot of big innings in 2020. He will also be counted on to provide a big bat in the lineup while playing the infield for the Warriors. ’22 RHP Brandon Williams also returns to the lineup in 2020 after starting every game as a freshman in 2019. He also posted a 3.29 ERA with 59 K’s in 51 innings pitched on the mound a year ago. Two freshman that started every game last year as freshmen also return. 2023 INF/RHP Blaine White only struck out fourteen times on the year and was 10/12 on stolen base attempts. He threw fifteen innings on the mound with a 3.57 ERA. 2023 OF/LHP Wyatt Suddeth also returns in 2020. Suddeth had a solid offensive year as an eighth grader and only made three errors in the field. He logged 6 innings on the mound a year ago but look for that number to go up in 2020. Although the Warriors are still young, the 2020 squad does return some experience in hopes of landing a state playoff spot this year.
