Today we take a look at the 24 infielders from the Alabama Fall Invite in our final scout blog from the event. There were numerous impressive infielders from the 2021 through 2023 classes at the event. Several of those infielders also tossed an inning from the mound during gameplay. Below is an individual analysis on each infielder present at the event. 

 

Infielders

Jackson Morgan (2023, 2B/OF, Chelsea) 

5-foot-8, 134-pound proportional frame. Recorded a time of 7.43 in the 60-yard dash. Starts in an open stance with a slow load, then uses a small leg kick to start his swing. Bat speed is efficient, displays loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. In the round he found some barrels. Up the middle approach. Morgan recorded an exit velocity of 84 mph. Confident in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 74 mph; has sure hands, a quick exchange and athletic feet. Had an-over-the-top slot with a short arm action. Nice actions in this 2023 grad. 

Jared Strothers (2022, 2B/RHP, Ramsay) 

5-foot-8, 150-pound slim frame. Recorded a time of 7.5 in the 60-yard dash. Began in an athletic open stance with a smooth load, then used a toe tap to start his swing. Has upward short swing plane, above average bat speed and high finish. Found some barrels during his rounds. Pull side approach. Strothers had an exit velocity of 81 mph. In the infield, recorded a position velocity of 74 mph; had twitchy hands, a natural exchange and rhythmic footwork. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a short arm action and a high ¾ slot. Raw on the mound, used a high ¾ arm angle and a loose arm action while showing some arm speed. Showed easy effort in his delivery. Changeup (62-63 mph).Sat with his fastball at 70-71 mph; has consistent command and running action. His sharp curveball (67-68) has low in the zone control. 

Jackson Harris (2023, 1B/LHP, Vestavia Hills) 

5-foot-10, 145-pound projectable frame. At the plate, Harris showed his power in the box with a strong exit velocity of 89 mph. Started in an athletic stance with a compact load, then used a controlled stride. Had simple swing plane, above average bat speed and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with loud contact. Base hit approach. Above average in the infield, his position velocity was registered at 76 mph; has athletic feet and consistent hands. Used a high ¾ slot and a short arm action. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.52. Projectable on the mound, had a high ¾ arm angle and a loose arm action with good arm speed. Feel type pitcher and uses easy effort. Consistent balance point. Produced a fastball that came in at 75-77 mph; had arm side command and cutting action. Showed consistent control and tight action on his sharp curveball (66-67). Has some "feel" on the mound and shows nice defensive actions at 1B. handles the bat very well, using the wholle field in his approach.  

Carson Gilley (2023, SS/2B, Central Phenix City) 

5-foot-10, 155-pound proportional frame. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.49. Starts in an open stance with a compact load, then uses a controlled stride just before his swing. Has simple swing plane, efficient bat speed and good extension on his finish. He barreled up multiple balls with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 83 mph. In the infield, displayed a velocity of 74 mph; shows smooth feet, firm soft hands and a clean exchange. Had a short arm action and an-over-the-top slot with consistent accuracy to the base. Does a nice job hitting balls hard to all fields. 

Kenneth Ingram (2022, 2B/SS, Holtville) 

5-foot-10, 165-pound lean frame. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.22. Starts in a balanced stance with a small load, then uses a toe tap to start his swing. Bat speed is some, displays loose swing plane and level finish. He Barreled up multiple balls throughout his round. Opposite field approach. the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 86 mph. Above average while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 78 mph; shows smooth feet, twitchy hands and a clean exchange. Used a long arm action and an-over-the-top slot while showing consistent accuracy to the base. Had some nice AB's during gameplay and shows a high baseball IQ. 

Cole Loftis (2022, RHP/3B, Hayden) 

5-foot-10, 165-pound proportional frame. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 8.28. Began in a balanced stance with a controlled load, then used a toe tap to start his swing. Bat speed is some, displays uphill swing plane and high finish. Found some barrels in his rounds. Pull side approach. the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 81 mph. In the infield, his position velocity was registered at 82 mph; has raw hands, a natural exchange and rhythmic feet. From a high ¾ slot, showed consistent accuracy to the base with a very quick arm action. Projectable on the mound, showed a loose arm action and a high ¾ arm angle with consistent arm speed Drop-and-drive type pitcher who uses some effort. Sat with his fastball at 81-82 mph with a max of 83 mph; had a heavy fastball that showed sinking action and command low in the zone. Throws a 11/5 curveball (68-69) that has glove side command and sweeping action. Attacks hitters in a bit of a cross fire approach and the breaking ball shows slider type action.  

John Saffold (2022, 2B/SS, Bessemer Academy) 

5-foot-10, 173-pound proportional frame. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.0. Begins in an open stance with a smooth load, then uses a controlled stride just before his swing. Bat speed was explosive, displayed simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. He Barreled up multiple balls with a lot of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Saffold showed his power ability with an exit velocity of 93 mph. Above average in the infield, displayed a velocity of 70 mph; shows rhythmic feet, a clean exchange and consistent hands. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used an-over-the-top slot with a loose arm action. Has some definte strength in his hands at the plate. 

Brodee Bartlett (2023, SS/3B, Cold Springs) 

5-foot-11, 168-pound athletic frame. Recorded a 60 time of 7.52 at the event. Starts in an narrow, open stance with a compact load, then uses a controlled stride to initiate his swing. Has rotational swing plane, explosive bat speed and good extension on his finish. He found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Bartlett recorded an exit velocity of 85 mph. Above average in the infield, his best throw was registered at 79 mph; had consistent hands, fluid footwork and a clean exchange. Used a high ¾ slot with a quick arm action. Had a loud RBI single in gameplay. Has really progressed well over the last year. 

Dylan Gordon (2022, SS/2B, Hoover) 

5-foot-11, 170-pound lean frame. At the plate, Gordon showed his power in the box with a strong exit velocity of 92 mph. Begins in an athletic balanced stance with a smooth load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed is some, exhibits flat swing plane and good extension on his finish. Through the round he found some barrels with some loud contact. Base hit approach. Fluid in the infield, his best throw was recorded at 72 mph; has a quick exchange, athletic feet and sure hands. Showed consistent accuracy to the bag with a short arm action and an-over-the-top slot. Displayed speed and athleticism at the event, recording a 60 time of 6.89. Does a nice job using the whole field with the bat. 

Evan Jones (2022, SS/2B, Chelsea) 

5-foot-11, 170-pound mature frame. Clocked a 60 time of 7.11 at the event. Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a small load, then uses a controlled stride before his swing. Bat speed was efficient, displayed simple swing plane and level finish. Found some barrels with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Jones displayed an exit velocity of 91 mph, showing his strength and power ability. While in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 83 mph; has a natural exchange, smooth feet and sure hands. Used an-over-the-top slot with a loose arm action. Athletic player that showed a some very nice pop to the backside gap.

Miles Mitchell (2023, SS/2B, Helena) 

5-foot-11, 175-pound mature frame. Recorded a time of 7.87 in the 60-yard dash. Started in a balanced stance with a smooth load, then used a controlled stride to initiate his swing. Bat speed is above average, shows loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. He Barreled up multiple balls throughout his round. Pull side approach. the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 84 mph. Fluid in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 76 mph; shows consistent hands, a natural exchange and smooth feet. Used an-over-the-top slot with a long arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. Really like the approach at the plate, generates carry off the bat with backspin. 

Jordan Pearce (2022, 3B/RHP, Sparkman) 

6-foot, 165-pound physical frame. Recorded a 60 time of 7.61 at the event. Begins in an athletic open stance with a small load, then uses a controlled stride to initiate his swing. Has flat simple swing plane, explosive bat speed and level finish. He barreled up multiple balls. Pull side approach. the right-handed hitter showed power in the box with an exit velocity of 90 mph. Solid while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 83 mph; had sure hands, developing rhythmic footwork and a natural exchange. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a short arm action with an-over-the-top slot. Confident on the mound, showed consistent arm speed and a short arm action. Feel type pitcher and uses easy effort. Showed consistent balance point. Sat with his fastball at 81-83 mph; had sinking action and control in the zone with heavy movement. Throws a sharp curveball (70-71) with swing and miss action and very consistent command. The breaking ball showed real nice depth and he pounded the zone with the fatsball and breaking ball. 

Hunter Meadows (2021, 3B/RHP, Valley) 

6-foot, 175-pound mature frame. During batting practice, Meadows had a max exit velocity of 87 mph. Started in an athletic stance then used a controlled stride. Bat speed is efficient and displays simple swing plane. He found a few barrels with some loud contact. Line drive approach. In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 75 mph; shows fluid feet, sure hands and a clean exchange. Had consistent accuracy to the bag with a high ¾ slot. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.73. On the mound, displays some arm speed. Used some effort in his delivery. Lands square. Threw his fastball 76-77 mph with a max of 78 mph; has running action and command around the zone. His curveball (64-65) has late action and low in the zone command.

Walker Stallworth (2021, 1B/RHP, Pike Liberal Arts) 

6-foot, 175-pound solid frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter showed his power ability with an exit velocity of 93 mph. Started in a balanced stance with a smooth load, then used a small leg kick before his swing. Bat speed is efficient and exhibits simple swing plane. During his round he produced tons of loud contact and found lots of barrels. Up the middle approach. In the infield, showed a fluid exchange and consistent footwork. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.67.

Christopher Johnston (2023, 3B/RHP, Vestavia Hills)

6-foot-1, 180-pound solid frame. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter showed power in the box with an exit velocity of 93 mph. Sets up in an athletic stance and used a leg kick. Bat speed is some and shows uphill swing plane. Found multiple barrels with some loud contact . Up the middle approach. While in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 82 mph; had a quick exchange and athletic footwork. Had a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the base. Performed well in the 60-yard dash, clocking a speedy time of 6.76. On the mound, exhibits good arm speed. Showed consistent balance point. Displayed a clean finish Threw his fastball 79-80 mph; has arm side command and sinking action. His 11/5 curveball (66-67) showed late action. 

Cade Prestegard (2022, 3B/RHP, Huntsville) 

6-foot-3, 180-pound physical frame. In the box, Prestegard had an exit velocity of 87 mph. Started in a balanced stance with a controlled load, then used a leg kick before his swing. Bat speed was above average, and displayed uphill swing plane. Barreled up multiple balls during his round. Gap to gap approach. While in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 78 mph; shows soft hands and quick feet. Had a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.51. On the mound, used easy effort in his delivery. Showed athletic balance point. Has a clean finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 78-79 mph with a max of 80 mph; has running action and control in the zone. His curveball (66-67) has control low in the zone and sweeping action. He shows fading action on his changeup (71-72).

Jackson Webster (2021, 1B/3B, Chelsea) 

6-foot, 220-pound physical frame. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter displayed an exit velocity of 102 mph, showing his strength and power ability. Setup included balanced stance and a big leg kick. Has uphill swing plane, electric bat speed and good extension on his finish. He found multiple barrels with tons of loud contact. Pull side approach. Solid while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 81 mph; has consistent footwork. Showed decent accuracy to the bases. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.39. 

Luke Hyche (2022, RHP/3B, Briarwood Christian) 

6-foot-1, 195-pound mature frame. At the plate, Hyche clocked an exit velocity of 88 mph. Setup consists of a smooth load and quiet stance. Bat speed is some. He Barreled up some balls throughout the round. Line drive approach. In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 82 mph; showed a clean exchange and athletic footwork. Showed a high ¾ slot and consistent accuracy to the base. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.79. Solid on the mound, showed a quick arm action. Uses some effort in his delivery. Has a clean finish. Sat with his fastball at 83-84 mph and topped out at 85 mph; showed command in the zone. Had a 11/5 curveball (69-71) that showed late action and low in the zone control.

Todd Clay (2022, SS/2B, Auburn) 

6-foot-2, 190-pound mature frame. At the plate, Clay's 98 mph exit velocity showed his ability to drive the ball with power. Sets up in a balanced stance with a controlled load. Bat speed was quick, had uphill upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. He created loud contact and found multiple barrels. Pull side approach. In the infield, displayed a velocity of 80 mph; fluid exchange. Had consistent accuracy. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.3. 

Ben Pearman (2023, RHP/3B, Thompson) 

6-foot-2, 200-pound sturdy frame. At the plate, Pearman showed his power in the box with a strong exit velocity of 94 mph. Used a leg kick before his swing. Bat speed is quick and uses short swing plane. Created a lot of loud contact and found multiple barrels. Line drive approach. While in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 83 mph; showed a clean exchange and sure hands. Had a high ¾ slot and consistent accuracy to the base. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.72. Projectable on the mound, showed a quick arm action and a high ¾ arm angle. Shows some effort in his delivery. Has a clean finish. Sat with his fastball at 83-85 mph and topped out at 86 mph; has running action and consistent control. His 11/5 curveball (74-75) had tight action and low in the zone command. 

Parker Giglio (2022, 1B/OF, Smiths Station) 

6-foot-2, 220-pound physical frame. During batting practice, the left-handed hitter displayed an exit velocity of 90 mph, showing his strength and power ability. Started in an open stance and used a big leg kick. Bat speed was explosive, and used uphill swing plane. He found multiple barrels in his rounds. Line drive approach. While in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 68 mph; has smooth footwork. Showed decent accuracy to the bases. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.9.

Aidan Bee (2023, 1B/RHP, Chilton County) 

6-foot-3, 215-pound mature frame. At the plate, Bee showed his power ability with an exit velocity of 96 mph. Sets up in a crouched stance and has a controlled stride. Bat speed is efficient and shows level swing plane. Barreled up multiple balls with a lot of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 81 mph; had consistent footwork and sure hands. Had consistent accuracy to the base and a high ¾ slot. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.42. On the mound, showed a consistent arm action. Showed some effort in his delivery. Athletic balance point. Displayed a clean finish Threw his fastball 81-82 mph. showed control in the zone. His curveball (72-73) shows command low in the zone and sweeping action. His changeup (73-74) has arm side control and fading action. 

Brant Stringer (2023, 1B/3B, Hartselle) 

6-foot-4, 196-pound athletic frame. At the plate, Stringer showed his power ability with an exit velocity of 93 mph. Sets up in a crouched stance with a short stride. Bat speed was quick, and had uphill swing plane. He Barreled up some balls during his round. Gap to gap approach. In the infield, his position velocity was registered at 81 mph; had a clean exchange and developing footwork. Showed a high ¾ slot and consistent accuracy to the bag. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.83. On the mound, sat with his fastball at 82-83 mph; showed running action and occasional control. Shows late action and command around the zone on his curveball (66-67). 

Patrick McGlon (2022, 3B/1B, Auburn) 

6-foot-4, 200-pound physical frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter's 98 mph exit velocity showed his ability to drive the ball with power. Sets up in a wide tall stance and has a short stride. Had electric bat speed, uphill swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found lots of barrels with tons of loud contact. Aggressive approach. While in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 80 mph; had consistent footwork. Showed a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the base. Clocked a time of 7.28 in the 60-yard dash. Ball comes off the bat differently for this uncommitted 2022 grad.
