Five to Follow: Uncommitted '20 Position Players

PBR Alabama Staff

Today we take a look at some uncommitted position players from across the state. These players all bring their own skill set to the field and will make a nice addition to a college’s 2020 class.

Alex Gauld (2020, SS/2B, Mountain Brook) Athletic MIF with plenty of room for added strength and weight. Sub 7.0 (6.88) runner with twitchy actions on the field. The 5’10 165 pound Spartan shows strength in the hands at the plate and a short, compact approach. Shows the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Solid defensive actions at SS with nice feet and nice arm strength.

Austin Frye (2020, 3B/RHP, Chelsea) Standing at 5’9 160 pounds, Frye showed the ability to stay on the baseball during his BP round at an event this fall. Shows nice feel for the barrel and the ability to drive the baseball to all fields. The senior has a strong lower half helping him drive the ball at the plate. Defensively, Frye was very advanced at 3rd base with nice glove work and strong arm strength across the diamond. Moves well at his position and all throws were accurate.

Garrett Frye (2020, SS/2B, Chelsea) Very impressive glove work at SS and seems to always get a big hop as his feet work well and he shows nice lateral range on the dirt. Slightly open leg kick approach that generates some backspin off the barrel with present strength in the hands. Hard nosed player that with a throwback type mentality on the field.

Jackson Huguley (2020, 1B/3B, Smiths Station) Big time bat in the ‘20 class that creates a ton of backspin off the barrel. Physical player (6’3 225 lbs.) that is also a good runner and can play both corner infield positions. The juice off the bat is mostly gap to gap in the approach but the ball really comes off the bat well to the pull side. Love the mentality in the approach at the plate.

Kobe Warden (2020, 2B/OF, Brooks) A hard nosed player, Warden is the type of player that you want on your team. At 5’10 160 pounds, the senior has a stocky, compact build that translates well to his offensive approach. Always seemed to find a barrel during his BP round at one of our events and the swing is short and compact. Excellent defender at both 2nd base and in the OF. Above average arm strength with accuracy on his throws.
