PBR Alabama Players of the Week: April 12-17

The end 2021 high school baseball regular season is quickly approaching as the 1A-6A classifications begin the 1st round of the AHSAA state playoffs this Friday and 7A teams play their final area series of the year this week. There are still several very important area matchups in 7A that will factor into who advances to the state playoffs. Several players across the state put up impressive performances for their respective teams last week. Congratulations to the players below that have earned "PBR Alabama Players of the Week" for April 5-10. Thanks to the high school coaches that nominated players for this past week. This week we have 6 positional players, 4 pitcher only's and 2 two-way players on the list. 

 

PBR ALABAMA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

 

POSITIONAL PLAYERS:

+ Mason Billions (2022, 1B, Ardmore) The junior had a big week with the bat as he was 8-17 on the week with 2 2B and 3 3B. He also drove in 9 runs and scored 9 more for the playoff-bound Tigers. 

+ Luke Hasty (2021, C, Smiths Station) Hasty had a big week offensively versus some quality opponents. The Central Alabama CC signee was 13-18 with 1 HR, 3 2B and 10 RBI. He also walked twice and was hit-by-pitch once as well. 

+ Logan Hittle (2021, OF, Bob Jones) The senior outfielder had a productive week for the Patriots as he had 8 hits in 15 at-bats. He had 3 2B, 1 3B and 1 HR to go along with 5 RBI. The uncommitted senior scored 8 runs and stole 4 bases as well. 

+ Sam Hogue (2021, C, Lindsay Lane Christian Academy) Hogue was 7-11 on the week with 1 HR and 1 3B while also doing quaity work behind the plate as he caught 24 innings on the week. For the year, Hogue is hitting .436 with 5 HR. 

+ Avery Seaton (2021, OF/RHP, Madison Academy) Seaton contributed in a big way this week as the Mustangs continue to prep for the upcoming 5A state playoffs. The Alabama A&M signee (who will also play QB in football) was 7-11 on the week with 8 RBI, 2 2B and 2 3B. One of his 7 hits was a walk-off single to help his team defeat Helena. 

+ Holden Stanfield (2021, OF/MIF, Lauderdale County) Stanfield and his teammates have been on a nice run of late as they prepare for the state playoffs. This week Stanfield was 9-13 with 3 3B and 4 RBI. He also scored 6 runs during the week. 

 

PITCHER ONLY:

+ Jacob Blackmon (2021, RHP, Smiths Station) The senior righthander turned in a quality start versus 7A #2 Auburn as he twirled a complete game (7 IP) gem. The Northwest Florida State College signee allowed only 2 hits and walked 1 hitter while striking out 9. He did not allow a run in an 8-0 Panther win. 

+ Cole Cheatham (2021, LHP, Ardmore) For the week, Cheatham went 7 innings on the mound and scattered 3 hits. The Mississippi State signee only walked 1 hitter and struck out 17 hitters as he showed dominant stuff on the mound. 

+ Ethan Hamm (2022, LHP, Lauderdale County) The uncommitted junior worked 10.2 innings on the mound during the week gaining a win (1-0) while only allowing 5 hits and 1 earned run. He struck out an amazing 23 hitters during the week. 

+ Thrasher Steed (2022, RHP, Gulf Shores) The UAB signee continues to turn in quality outing after quality outing for the area champion Dolphins. In a win that gave his team the area championship, the UAB commit went 7 IP (CG W) and scattered 5 hits while only allowing 1 earned run. Steed also struck out 10 hitters in a 6-0 win. 

 

TWO-WAY PLAYERs:

+ Samuel Dutton (2021, RHP/OF, Westbrook Christian) Another week and Dutton finds his name on the list yet again as he continues to produce in a two-way role for the playoff-bound Warriors. The LSU signee once again dominated on the mound as he went 5 innings and only allowed 1 hit. He did not walk anyone and struck out 11 hitters. With the bat, Dutton was 5-7 with 4 RBI. 

Presley Walker (2021, SS/RHP, Gardendale) Walker helped the Rockets to an area championship as he was 7-11 at the plate with 3 2B and 3 RBI. He also scored 2 runs and walked once. On the mound, the Wallace-Hanceville signee threw 7 innings on the mound, getting a win while only allowing 4 hits. He struck out 6 hitters and allowed 1 earned run.
