Team Alabama 14U Game 2 and 3 Quick Hits

Austin Sharp
Director of Scouting

After going 1-1 on Day 3 of the Junior Future Games, here are some of the top performers from Team Alabama 14U’s:

Game 1

Jaxon Milam, SS/RHP (‘23 Russell County HS)- To lead off the 6th, Milam got the head out on a fastball and smoked a double to the RCF gap. Milam has been impressive with the stick this weekend. The 5’11 150-pounder has a smooth stroke from the left-side and seems to always make hard contact. One of the top ‘23 prospects in AL.

Ryan Strachan, SS/RHP (‘23 Sparkman HS)- With runners on 1st and 2nd, Strachan barreled up an inside fastball through the 6-hole for a base hit. Strachan has been equally impressive at the dish and on the mound (87 mph). Look for the rising freshman to make a huge leap in the ‘23 Player Rankings soon.

Jackson Crow, RHP/OF (‘23 Oxford HS)- After Michigan put up a few runs early on, Alabama turned to Crow in relief. Crow did not disappoint in his outing as he went 4 shutout innings to keep his team in the game which ultimately led to the win. This RHP misses barrels and fills up the zone with his fastball.

Connor Wilson, 1B (‘23 Cherokee County HS)- This 5’9 210-pounder has really made a name for himself this weekend at the plate. With a very selective approach, Wilson picks out his pitches nicely and always seems to find a barrel. With a thick build, the rising freshman uses his hips well and smokes a single to the backside in the 6th below.

Jax Yoxtheimer, OF/3B (‘23 Central Phenix City HS)- After taking the lead in the 7th, Team Alabama turned to Yoxtheimer in the 7th to secure the win, and secure it he did. The RHP filled up the zone with fastballs to shut down the opposing offense and K’ed the side to clinch win #2 for Alabama.

Game 2

Banks Langston, OF/RHP (‘23 Florence HS)- This 5’11 140-pounder was very efficient in his outing today on the bump. Langston avoided hard contact and relied on his defense to make plays, as he induced many ground ball outs. The rising freshman primarily sat 79-80 but bumped 83 a few times when he needed to. High ceiling.

Connor Wilson, 1B (‘23 Cherokee County HS)- The hit machine continued his torrid pace at the dish in Game 2, as he got a hit in every AB. Using his selective approach, Wilson worked the count to 2 strikes and picked out an inner-half fastball and smoked it down the LF line for a single. Love his offensive prowess.
