We would like to thank all who participated in our first inaugural event this past week: The 2018 BC Open ID. This was a great opportunity for 2018-2021 prospects to be identified before season, create and update their profiles, as well see where they stack up with their peers. Many players impressed during their individual workouts at the showcase and below we have the complete statistical results from the event as well as the top performers across various different categories.

In the coming weeks, we will be adding and updating profiles for each of the players in attendance, including complete analysis and video.

BC Insider: 2018 Open ID - Young Standouts

Last week we hosted our first ever event in BC with over eighty kids from all over the province. One thing was clearly evident was the talent BC has coming up through the pipeline. We take a  look at some up and coming prospects on the rise will be detailed reports below. All players are either sophomores or freshmen and all are uncommitted.

Noah Takacs RHP / OF / Oak Bay, BC / 2020 Report: Noah is an intriguing right-handed pitcher from the Victoria Eagles of the PBL. He looks the part standing 6-foot-2, 185-pounds with a three-pitch mix. He ran his fastball up to 84 mph but sat in the 82 mph range with smooth delivery and clean arm action. His curveball had some depth to it and his change 67-70 mph had arm side run and could develop into an above average pitch down the road. Look for Takacs to have a big summer and take the next step in his development.

Jack Seward RHP / Port Moody, BC / 2020 Report: Jack is 6-foot-1, 160-pounds but gets every ounce out of his live arm. At the event he ran his fastball up to 86 mph and sat in the 83-84 mph range and broke off some above average curveballs that worked in the 70-72 range while his changeup is still developing but could become a pitch down the road as the pitchability and athleticism is there in the young 2020 arm.

Jaden Lamothe OF / RHP / Langley, BC / 2021 Report: Jaden is 6-foot, 165-pounds and is an athletic two-way guy. On the mound he has good feel and ran his fastball in the 73-75 range. His curveball was 62-64 and has good breaking action with 11/5 shape. His changeup was 64-67 mph and is still developing but did show some feel for the pitch with a couple that came out the hand clean with fading action down in the zone. From the outfield he showed a strong arm with a velocity of 77 mph and ran well in his 60-yard dash with 7.16. During BP, Lamothe was able to move the barrel around the zone and produce hard contact to go along with an exit velo of 86.

Haiden Letzing C / OF / Fleetwood park, BC / 2021 Report: Haiden is a big bodied kid standing 6-foot-3, 185-pounds. His fastball was 80-81 and showed a developing curveball at 60-61 and was 62-65 with his changeup. From the outfield he had one of the stronger arms with a velocity of 80 mph. His BP was impressive showing gap to gap power with room to grow into above average power down the road when he becomes older. His exit velo was 86 showing advanced strength and swing patterns for his age.
