2022 Future Games: Team Canada - Top Performers

The 11th annual Future Games took place on July 27-30 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. Top uncommitted prospects in the classes of 2024 and 2025 participated in one of the most popular events of the year.

There were 32 teams, including Team Canada, with players representing 40 states plus Canadian prospects. Each team played three games the final three days of the event after all position players were put through a showcase workout on Wednesday.

More than 300 colleges from across the country were looking on as approximately 500 players participated in this year’s event. In 2021, a record 330 college and professional coaches and scouts were in attendance.

Report: Consistent loud contact, several extra-base hits. Good defense at SS.

Best Pitching Performance

Matthew Brown RHP / SS / Waterdown District, ON / 2024

Report: 6-5, 185lbs and worked up to 89.6

Jacob Wallace RHP / 1B / Chene Bleu Pincourt, QC / 2024

Report: Big frame, heavy FB at 89.7 w/ high spin (max 2424). Spun a sharp CB w/ high spin (2389 avg)

Best In Game Hitting Performance

Jorge Valdes OF / Bishop Reding, ON / 2024

Report: Feel to hit from the left side and is his own RBI. Can Steal 2nd, 3rd w/ ease.

Brendan Lawson SS / 3B / Lawrence Park, ON / 2024

Report: Had two EV's of 94+ in the same game against Alabama. Found the barrel all week long.

Best Workout Day Hitter

David Stanley OF / C / Greenwood College, ON / 2024

Report: One of the best overall rounds at FG. Mature round w/ barrels, equalling long distances and high EV's.

Best In Game Defender

Jorge Valdes OF / Bishop Reding, ON / 2024

Report: Ran down everything in CF. Flies (ran a 6.55).

Best Workout Day Defender

Oliver Clements SS / 3B / Vancouver College, BC / 2024

Report: Clements was smooth and clean on the INF with actions, footwork and arm strength, bringing some BC flair to the workout.

Junior Future Games - Five Names To Know

Joey Marino SS / 2B / Fleetwood Secondary, BC / 2024

Report: Drove the ball to all fields, quality defender at SS.

Owen Gregg SS / 3B / Appleby College, ON / 2025

Report: Projectable SS and RHH with a mature approach to the game

Giancarlo Sortino SS / 2B / St. Maximilian Kolbe, ON / 2025

Report: Projectability. Put a ball of the wall and made several highlight plays on INF.

Philip Cheong SS / 2B / Bill Crothers, ON / 2025

Report: Hit a no-doubt HR. Flashy player that always finds a way to standout.

Austin Boylan 3B / OF / Bill Crothers, ON / 2025

Report: Strong, mature player. Always get the job done, especially at the dish. Consistent barrels and base hits.
