Draft League Spotlight: Damiano Palmegiani
February 23, 2021
Player: Damiano Palmegiani
Position: 3B/OF
School: Southern Nevada
Selected in the 35th round in 2018 by the Toronto Blue Jays, Palmegiani transferred from Cal State Northridge to Southern Nevada last summer. A native of Surrey, BC he stands 6-foot-1, 200 pounds with strength and twitch. He is built for the next level. Offensively he shows well above average best bat speed with a slight rock back of the hands to load from below his back shoulder. The hands come back as he takes a short soft stride and at foot strike whistles the bat through the zone with above average hand speed. Makes loud contact, resulting in 109 MPH exit velos. Makes consistent passes at the ball and repeats his stroke with efficiency. Impressive hitter that with a big spring and summer in the Draft League will capture attention. Defensively he profiles to third base or a corner outfield. He took grouders at shortstop, showing athletic actions with smooth transfers and a solid average online arm. His throws have carry with something on them. Overall, his bat is his carry tool with a middle of the order, run producer profile. Palmegiani has committed to Arizona for the 2021-22 school year.
