Les Lukach
State Scouting Director

For the second time this season Prep Baseball Report California has Co-SoCal Players of the Week. 2018 RHP Christian Ciuffetelli and 2019 RHP Derek Diamond earned the honors this week because of their standout performances. Both players had outstanding performances on the mound for their teams while one also contributed in a big way at the plate.

2018 RHP Christian Ciuffetelli of Servite High School threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts while facing just two over the minimum against rival Mater Dei in a huge Trinity League showdown that helped the Friars clinch a playoff spot. For the season the Oregon signee is 7-3 with 60 strikeouts in 58 innings with a ridiculous 0.77 ERA.

2019 Derek Diamond of Ramona High School, the 47th ranked player in the Prep Baseball Report California Class of 2019 rankings, also threw a no hitter, striking out 9 and adding a 3 run home run. In game two of the series sweep of Escondido he was 2-for-4 with a double. The Stanford commit is 4-2 with 57 strikeouts and a 1.04 ERA on the season. He's also hitting .395 with 5 home runs, 11 doubles, and 25 RBI for the Bulldogs.

For their efforts, Ciuffetelli and Diamond have been named the Prep Baseball Report SoCal Co-Players of the Week for May 7 - May 13.

Prep Baseball Report California salutes Ciuffetelli and Diamond's hard work and success.
