5A Final 8 Roundup

Friday May 20th and Saturday May 21st, the 8 remaining 5A teams took part in a double elimination tournament to crown the next State Champion. Here is a look at how the 4 remaining teams moved on to next weekend's semi-final and championship round.
5A Final 4 Roundup
FRIDAY MAY 20TH (ALL-CITY STADIUM)
Rocky Mountain 5 Mullen 1 (10:00 AM)
The Lobos saw big performances from Austin Alarid who went 5.2 innings with 3 hits, 1 run and 8 K’s. Kadin Breeze led the way at the plate going 1-2 with 2 RBI.
Cherokee Trail 7 Dakota Ridge 2 (12:30 PM)
The Cougars were led by Ryan Sullivan who was 3-5 with 2 RBI and Jerome Bohannon who went 2-3 with 1 run and 2 RBI and 1 homerun.
Cherokee Trail 7 Rocky Mountain 0
Win number 2 on Friday was courtesy of Conner Nantkes who went 7 strong innings giving up only 2 hits, 0 runs and struck out 6.
*Cherokee Trail moves on to 5A State Championship Play-In Game
Friday MAY 20TH (MACHEBEUF HS)
Grandview 10 Raltston Valley 4 (10:00 AM)
The Wolverines get a big day from Tyson Hays who went 2-5 with a homerun and 2 RBI, and Travis Parker and Hunter McLaran who went 3-3 with with 2 RBI.
Cherry Creek 5 ThunderRidge 3 (12:30 PM)
The Bruins get the win and were led by Clayton Gill who went 2-3 with 2 RBI and 1 homerun.
Cherry Creek 6 Grandview 1
The Bruins get the win and head to the final 4 and were led by Tanner O’Tremba who was 2-4 with 1 run and 5 RBI and 1 homerun.
Cherry Creek moves on to 5A State Championship Play-In Game
SATURDAY MAY 21ST (MACHEBEUF HS)
Mullen 11 Dakota Ridge 6 (10:00 AM)
The Mustangs get the elimination game victory and were led by Jonathon Miranda who went 3-4 with 1 run and 7 RBI and 1 homerun and Maverick Handley who was 2-3 with 2 runs, 3 RBI and 2 homeruns.
Mullen 7 Grandview 6 (12:30 PM)
Jonathan Miranda has big day at the plate going 3-4 while driving in 3 runs. Jonathan Wickersham gets the win on the mound and also helps his cause going 2-3 at the plate.
SATURDAY MAY 21ST (ALL CITY STADIUM)
Ralston Valley 5 ThunderRidge 2 (10:00 AM)
The Mustangs get the win and were led at the plate by Josh Robinson who was 2-4 with 1 run and 2 RBI and on the mound by Reed Hutchin who went 7 innings giving up 4 hits, 1 earned run and struck out 4.
Rocky Mountain 7 Ralston Valley 3 (12:30 PM)
The Lobos were led by John Sorensen who was 2-4 with 1 run and 1 RBI and Easton Dolan who went 2-3 with 2 runs and 1 RBI.
Cherokee Trail 10 Cherry Creek 8 (3:00 PM)
The third win for the Cougars last weekend put them in the Championship game and once again Ryan Sullivan provided the offense, going 2-4 with 2 RBI.
*Cherokee Trail automatically moves on to 5A State Championship Game and has to be beat twice next weekend.
