Weekend Roundup:
Arapahoe 4 Grandview 3
In a great game on Saturday, the Warriors jumped out to a 2 run lead after the first two innings, but in the top of the 3rd the Wolves put up a 2 spot to tie the game and then in the 4th, Grandview scored a run to take the lead 3 to 2. Arapahoe in the bottom of the 7th scored the tying run, and then in the 8th scored the winning run on a bunt play to move the runner to 3rd base, and an errant throw brought in the winning run. The Warriors were led by pitcher Drew Hayes (2018) who pitched 6 innings allowing 1 earned run to go with 2 strikeouts, and at the plate, Garrett DeClue (2018) went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. For the Wolves, Luke LaFlam (2018) was 2 for 4.
Rocky Mountain 6 Fort Collins 3
The Lobos scored at least 1 run in every inning but the 4th to beat cross town rival Fort Collins on Saturday. The Lobos were led by, Dylan Hupfer (2020) who was 2 for 2 with an RBI, and Blake Riott (2018) who was 2 for 2 scoring 2 runs and driving in 1. For the Lambkins, Remy Stern (2018) was 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Mullen 7 Eaglecrest 3
In this league game on Saturday the Mustangs of Mullen, trailing 3 to 1 after 5 innings, exploded for 6 runs in the bottom of the 6th, and went on to beat the Raptors. The Mustangs’ Reggie Parris (2019) had a good day at the plate going 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Jake Barr (2018) also went 2 for 4, scoring a run, and driving in another. For the Raptor’s Jayson Tisdall (2019) was 2 for 4, scoring a run, and driving in another.
Cherokee Trail 9 Smoky Hill 3
The Cougars came out hot on Saturday in their league game with Smoky Hill. Trailing 2 to 0 going into the bottom of the 1st, the Cougars scored 4 runs to take the lead for good. The Cougars pounded out 12 hits and scored 9 runs in the game. They were led by, Gavin Bell (2018) who had two jacks, was 2 for 3, and drove in 4 runs. Pitching for the Cougars was Kellen Cox (2019) who went 5 innings allowing 3 earned runs on 4 hits, to go along with 6 K’s. For the Buffaloes, Cam Kennedy was 2 for 3 and scored a run.
Prairie View 3 Brighton 2
In a pitching duel, Prairie View was able to pull out the win in the bottom of the 8th inning. Prairie Views pitcher Rylan Tavenner (2020) pitch 6 and 1/3 inning giving up 5 hits, 2 runs, and had 4 K’s, and their big stick for the day was Evan Baldizan (2018) who was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.
Castle View 7 Arvada West 4
Castle View jumped out early to a one-run lead, and then scored 2 in the 4th, 3 in the 5th, and 1 in the top of the 6th to take a commanding lead on Saturday. Arvada West made a late push and scored 3 in the bottom of the 7th but it wasn’t enough. Castle View was led by, Lance Kelly (2018) who was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI’s and Ryan Windham (2018) who was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI’s. Pitching for Castle View was, Ryan Newman (2018) and B. Derosiers (2018) combined for a 2 hitter to go along with 10 strike outs.
Pine Creek 11 Coronado 0
Pine Creek came out crushing the ball scoring 5 in the 1st and another 5 in the top of the second to cruise to their win on Saturday. Pine Creek was led by Kyle Moran (2019) 1 for 1 with 3 RBI’s and Evan Faucher (2019) 2 for 3 with 4 RBI’s.
